spooning at deptford 16/7/11

had an enjoyable two and a half hours spooning in front of the ropery at deptford. fished an hour up one and a half down. first cast straight into a flounder about a pound, nothing for the next 45 minutes then a coalie about 12oz, the top of the tide came then the flounders started to feed in the first half hour of the ebb i got 8 flounders out best just over a 1lb. it really is an enjoyable way to catch flounders with the added advantage that every one is lightly hooked so can go back unharmed plus you use very little crab using this method. heres a few picys.

Nice sesh mate. Have you ever kept and eaten a one? If so was it OK. Only asking as I kept a couple once of spittal and they were ok.

yes contrary to popuar belief they're quite nice. heres a good simple recipe for them if you want to try it

Never fished the spoon before, just wondering if you retreive it like a spinner, but bumping the bottom, or nail it down and let the current spin the blade?
