Fished SS pier this morning 6-8.30. Started near end fishing into river on wheel then moved right to end casting straight out.
Not much to report fish wise. Caught loads of small coalies and sandeel / launce. All caught on spinner. Lost one good size fish when bringing up the side, it was really going for it I think it felt like a mackerel.
The pier was pretty busy at 6 and gradually filled up. I picked a spot which was not to my liking but I was considerate to the other anglers and made the best of my position. As soon as I started catching coalies I had people moving and casting over me
After witnessing a few people keeping well undersize fish, leaving them to flap about and die in a carrier justified by I quote " they are not that big but there is a few of them ". A bottle of Vodka appeared and the air was full of lead, hooks and loud bull****. Time to leave.
Had a chat with a couple of guys further down the pier who decided to give the end a miss. We ended up talking about the need for someone to police the piers, monitoring fish size and possibly behaviour.
Apart from that it was a lovely morning. Only saw one mackerel landed.
