Gave the pier another go today but decided to fish further up. I set up at the 45 mark at about midday at low water. The sea was absolutely flat calm with hardly a ripple on it without a breath of wind. I fished with two rods, one further out than the other, the closer in one with a 2 hook flapper and the other one with one larger hook and bigger bait. I was straight into fish with two decent size Plaice and then two Dabs, then it went a bit quiet before I caught a Gurnard. Nothing else after that apart from the obligatory Mackerel taking my hook on the retrieve. Rag and mackerel was the bait used but I think it was just the mackerel they were after. It chucked it down later on but I had the waterproofs so it was no bother, I would much rather have it raining like that than the wind yesterday. With the calm conditions today the TT ultra lite came into it’s own, the bite detection was fantastic, no swallowed hooks on that rod today.

Wouldn't stay still so I had to hold it!
Grumbled like mad when it came in:)

Thats a beauty mate.... Still yet to catch one so well done. (Although I find them rather tasty so buy em from Latimers in Whitburn whenever they are in!!)

Better conditions than yesterday ie no wind :)
Well done and mite bump into u in future going 2 start and fish that abit more often if it suits over the next couple of months

Not bad days work mate. It does look like a grumpy old thing like:D

It was your comment yesterday that gave me the spur to plod further up the pier today:thumbup:
The thing that had been putting me off heading up there was that last time I was there I was plagued with Mackerel taking my bait. Only one today though
:)

Finally I've been of help to someone in my life:D
I love the 40 marks but just can't get away with the mackers surrounding me, roll on september and hopefully a good coddie season.
