Had a couple of hours after work last night. Went along to the end of the pier to get the wind off our backs, it was belting up the pier off the land.
Plenty of bites from small stuff, final score 7 Dabs and 2 Coalies with the biggest Dab maybe just short of a pound.

Bait was rag and squid. Hoping for a Plaice but no luck.

First time me and my mate fished off the end and it seemed pretty snaggy. What is the recommended casting distance to get past the rocks ?

some days it seems snaggier than others. i fished 5 hours last friday, didnt use a rotten bottom and didnt get snagged once

it can depend on which way the tides puliing and which side your on. you can get no snaggs on the run off then as soon as it turns your snagged every cast

Best fished on the ebb, during the flood your gear is pulled back towards the snags.

Anything over 70yds should clear the snags off the end mate, like said, fished best on the ebb as a flooding tide pulls you into the rocks ever if you chucking 150yds haha.

I never seem to have bother with snags on ssp. Only time I find it snaggy is with a tide 5m and over and when they are big tides I tend to use a strong 7oz sinker and find it does the job well. You will snag more though if you're using plain leads

Ta lads, I did find with a longer chuck of I guess 90 to 100 yards it seemed ok. But I was trying to drop a bit shorter to find where the rocks first went to sand..........for some daft reason. I think I will give it the big un in future to stay away from the snags. My mate likes to drop short because he always seems to catch doing that. But he was getting really badly snagged up. Like I said our first time on the end of the pier and another lesson learned.
