Fished the 44 mark 15:30 - 18:30 yesterday. Near enough top of the tide down, what tide there was
Fished the big rod well out - maybe 80 yds or so - with big Crab baits and had one positive bite which I missed cos I was doing the other rod at the time. One of those where it drops back and you think its on, after you lift up you wish you had left it, you know the kinda thing. Bait was ragged. Switched to big Rag baits after I ran out of Crab and had one small Gurnard, smaller than the bait. Had a few other knocks on Rag but nowt developed.
Also fished at 40 to 50 yds with a 2 hook rig and small baits, rag and squid and had a couple of small Dabs and a decent Lobster.
All returned.
Fishing seemed to get worse and worse as the tide fell away.
Still a few mackerel getting caught on the end but nowt else. Lads fishing the tide up on the slab had nowt, some lads around 50 yards to my right also had nowt and complaining about snagging up all the time.
I got lucky and never got snagged once for a change, guess that was because there was hardly any tide movement ?
Hope this is useful info.
