That's mine. I read all the kayaking reports lately n throwing caution to the wind grabbed the first float I could find. I knew I had to travel light and with the reports of macky bashers getting codling I decided to just take a handline and a ham sarnie to give me the energy to swim home. I jumped in at the walkway on an ebbing spring tide and rode it all the way to the mouth of the piers. Dropped me handline n first drop I got a take. Thump thump 4 macky n a good codling on the last feather. I could tell cos I've done this before. Anyway, got all the fish up, one by one, unhooked them n stuffed in my aldi bag, being careful not to puncture the jaws replica with the loose hooks then it happened. Sammy came up out of the depths, took the codling on the bottom hook and I the commotion I capsized. But managed to keep ahold of jaws I had to prioritise so i let go of the aldi bag with the macky in and held onto the handline. I had my wetsuit on so I figured I would survive a good few hours. It's surprising how fast a lip hooked seal will swim. To cut a long story short the seal got tired n climbed onto the bottom step at the round head. I hauled myself in towards his whiskery face but in the elation of rescue I let jaws go and hauled myself toward the seal. It was foul hooked 8 the tail, so the cod was fresh as a daisy. Result.
