Gonna have a go on the pier tomorrow after work, should get on about 5 ish which I think will be near the top of the tide. Would love to catch a Plaice. Could anyone advise me on mark, rigs, casting distance and bait ?

I am a relative beginner so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks lads.

Rag and fresh crab is the bait I'd suggest and a 2 hook flapper rig in between the scout hut and first gates I got mine from but last time I was out the nets were there hope this helps mate and good luck

I've got to say I actually agree for once with you mate:D:D

Thanks lads, will give that a go and of course report. Apologies for the daft question but how do I find the 42 to 46 marks - are they near the far end of the pier?
Also is there a need to chuck a long way out? Not the best caster like.

hi mate before you get to the end or blocks underneath the railings on the left you will see numbers eg 44 ,43 ,42 painted on the bottom but you fish on the right side where the pier wall is 50 yards shud keep ya out of snags but reel in fast to avoid snags close in

have to agree I was to the right of Waco yesterday had 11 plaice with 3 around the 2lb mark best was 2lb 3oz most believe it or not on fresh mackerel strip, I gutted a couple I took home and they were full of tiny Sandeel maybe a explanation for them taking thin strips of fish ....

Hi m8the best place i caught my best plaice from was on Roker pier fishing the bay side of the pier and me and my m8 got some canny sized bin lids from there and the bait we used was rag and lugworm with 2 hooks but one with yellow beads on and one without but one right on the sea bed so good luck to you m8.:D:D:D:D

Interesting session, had Plaice, Dabs and Flounder with the best a Flounder around 1lb in weight, maybe a bit over. Also 5 little gurnard up to around half a pound, never seen those before. Fished the 44 mark with rag and mackerel. Wind was a problem mind with bites really hard to spot. Thanks for the help lads
