Fished the walkway on ss pier today from 2.45pm till 6.15pm had lots of knocks but only got a granny fish to the shore. Bait used. Mussle squid and runny down he'll of alot of lads fishing to day had a chat with a lad fishing from the edge of the car park as he had left his his rod rest at home he was over the moon with a 2lb cooling he had just got

Might have walked past you on my way on as you pulled that in. About half 3 and the grannyfish was lovely marked with big white spots on its belly?
I fished around the 43 mark, loads of bites but nowt hung on. Didn't help that I was set up for fishing the barrier at Roker but due to the flat calm sea tha gate was locked so ended up on Shields. Only had two grip leads in the box so chose a clean ground spot with no tide (roundend was stowed off anyways).
Lad next to me on the 42 had a nice cod about 7lb just as I was packing up and I had a brief chat with the lad at the car park. Nice mild night to be out anyways and it beat Sunday dinner with the folks

alrite mate, i was the lad that caught the fish, it was just over the 8lb mark, i already had a 5lb fish in the bag that i caught on the round head. was a great day for me yesterday. My mate also had a codling at 2 1/2lb. Nowt worse than having to go somewhere else with the wrong gear.

It was a lovely fish, though I was getting a bit worried when I saw your mate about to climb down the ladders over the wall to get it
Made the move down the pier worthwhile for you; it looked stowed up there can't have been fun dodging all that lead

Aye it was a cracking fish, biggest of my season so far and possibly the best session of the season. Could'nt believe my mate was on the ladders, told him just to lay down on the wall but he was'nt listening. It was even worse when he handballed my 5lbr up the round head, he was sitting on the edge o the wall wie his legs hanging over the edge, i near freaked out at him, lol. Told him a fish aint worth falling in for and his reply....... i'm a big lad!! lol. Aye the lead was flying all over, thats why we moved. i hate fishing shoulder to shoulder, its a big bloody pier with load o room
