took a luck up to my favorite place since blanking at beadnell last week end where four of us caught nothing did get a few good pulls but no hook ups.

so we arrived at 8pm after out 2hr journey stoping at macy ds and for petrol at the berwick services.

on arrival we had a drive down to the harbor to take a look at the sea which had a canny swell on for the lack of wind.
the mark we were going to try and fish was white heagh but the tide was still too high and the swell was a pain.

so we parked up in the car park where the turn off for the light house is so we could save seven quid from the harbor parking meters

we headed down the road and across to the path that leads down to the mark, spent five minutes analyzing the sea from the cliff tops and decided to go round the top of the cliffs further until we came to a nice looking bay.
we found our selves a nice spot on a flat rock and set up camp.

we geared up and started with frozen peeler 2 on 6/0 sakuma manta extra hooks, as they were small and expensive!! {moon fleet} none the less they seem good quality just a shame they not cheaper.

we fish 50lb main as always to a 3 way swivel then 50lb hook snood and a 30lb weight length for our rotten bottoms.

first cast came a nice cod telling bite and resulted in a nice 3.6lb clean fish

the next cast resulted in a fish lost as i was snagged from the off.
cast 3 bite again and fish on, got it up good n was going to let it go but it was bleeding like hell and probably wouldn't survive so in the bag it went weighing in at only 2.4lbs

the crabs had been doing the business but things turned quiet as the tide ebbed so i left my mate roo to look for a way across to a nice looking mark.
from across the bay i saw roo with his rod going crackers latching into a well deserved fish since he lost one already.

after roos fish we had one more chuck and decided to go back to white heagh stopping at a cliff chuck we spotted on the way round (looked really fishy if you had pulleys). was a dangerous spot at best and high as fook. just to test i loaded my line with a lead to c if i could hit the sea bed which it did but snagged up instantly. and its no spot to b trying to break 50lb sensor.

so we moved round to the next mark and after a good scramble round to it we decided to fish befor the climbing starts as the swell was looking a little bit menacing (looked calmer where we were going than where we fished). anyways it turned out a good call with a good bump seconds into my first cast resulting in a lovely red cow bout 4lb(pics a bit deciving angle) which was returned as 2 cod are enuff for me and i dont see the point in having a freezer full.

i soon had a wrass out on the next cast and had to cut the hook as it was deep. then joy for roo again who hooked in to another sexy cow after losing another fish in the kelp!!!

soon another wrass came to my line that had a nice blue tinge to it. was released safely then we had an inquisitive friend turn up for a lil while.

with 2 crabs left we decided to make this one the last one befor the treck back to the car witch resulted in another fine codling returned again

after we scrambled across the bay area and hiked the steep hill we took 5 mins at a bench on the cliff tops looking over to the harbor and took a pick of all fish kept 2 by roo and 2 myself.

the harbor view

it turned out a really good day out with good crack all day and spoilt for bites n fish as it often is up this way on.

after a long hike and drive home i gutted, filleted and skinned my catch and found this in the belly of the small one and a little edable crab in the big one

this looks like a rockling to me. cant tell for sure tho and no pic of the small crab sry threw it away befor i got me fone out again.

hope you all enjoy my first report took ages to do lol.

cheers dan
