me and my mate castaway took run up to scotland today to keep out of them strong south westerlies. no better place than st abbs to shelter from'em. we've been up once before but never had the nerve to try the mark directly under the lighthouse.
for anybody who aint fished it before like me today, yes that is a skeer cut off from the mainland, and yes you do need to make a leap of faith across a chasm to get to the skeer.
the gap isnt that big to jump , however it doesnt need to be cos the view down will frighten the sh#te out of you.
well, we both made it but its not for the faint hearted.
as it turned out the fishing was good and we where both into fish straight away. from sandeels on spinner to wrasse down the side. we didnt trouble the pollock population today but had a new species for both of us, ballan wrasse.
castaway landing another canny'un on light gear. so light infact he's stopped using a rod and is now bagging them with one of them kids fishing nets.
castaway took the honours again with a 3lb wrasse. welldone marra, top man again
i did manage to eek out one or two myself. behind me you can see the divers boat and they could clearly see us. one of them was nearly our biggest catch of the day as they decided to swim amongst our end tackle and pull on the lines, unbelievable! personally, if i was a diver i would be keeping out of the way of treble hooks and 2/0 vikings.
ya get a canny view up at the fog horn from here
