what is the best bait 4 fishing at st mary's island and what is the most likely fish that can be caught there

crab will be the top bait now m8 as for species codling will be the main focus but colies and the odd pollock n wrasse will tend 2 show along with rockling

The species aforementioned are there now. I use rag and peeler but none outweighs the other at present! As the summer matures I will be targeting red codling and might use a lighter rod for wrasse and pollack! In relation to rigs, rotten bottoms are essential! Good luck! I have had recent success in crisps gulley but there are other marks to the north also!

Robert i fished quite alot up there last summer, the best bait i found was rag worm and mussle

ive used mussle before but the last i went fishing i had set up a 2 hooked rig 1 with mussles and 1 with no bait everytime i caught a fish the fish kept on going for the hook with out bait :exclam: :exclam:

was it a coaley? and did you have mussle on when you brought back in? it usally comes off unless you secure with elastic

it was a coaley and everytime baited up me 1 of the hooks on my 2 hook rig with mussles i tied them securely with elastic :yltype: :yltype:

yeah rob that time we went fishing i used elastic cotton to secure the muscle and mackerel on the other hook its best to take elastic cotton always its a key product to fishing

you told me that your grandad caught flatties but not coalies and i also told you the same story because when i went to curchpoint i caught coalies where it was just the hook and a few rocklin on rag you dont have to tell lies you know rob it dont make you a bad at fishing if you blank on lots of sessions it comes and goes happens to every angler and you told me you dont have or use elastic cotton
