il give a report of my last 3 sessions, saturday i fished st marys and blanked, lastnight i fished whitley pipe, had pleanty of good knocks but couldnt connect to anything, ended up with a crab. tonight i fished st marys again and caught a lobster, again i had pleanty of good knocks but couldnt connect, so still yet to have a cod this season despite doing everything right im not catching! going to wait for the next big seas before going out again.

St Marys.....i bloody hate that place....the only place where you get good knocks all night but never hook into a fish!!:D

you're obviuosly not doing everything right if you've yet to catch codling this season! Wrong marks, wrong time, wrong baits...wont catch fish..

yeah ive tried dropping hook sizes, and as far as it goes i have done everything right, fished various conditions over diferent tides and locations, e.g. beaches when its been rough and over rough ground when its a bit flatter, at diferent ranges. tried a massive variety of baits, obviously just not in the right place at the right time.

Plenty of small codling 1.5lbs,in river at mo with odd better one thrown in,get yasel down on next smallish tides with lug,am sure you will catch a few.Good luck.

I would dare say you will have been getting bites from coalies last session i had on sunday i was getting good knocks dropped a hook size and put some crab on... bang 5 coalies on the trot all about 1lb mark.

You normally wont miss a bite from a hungry codling.

A trace tip make sure you have a long hook snood, its been working for me to get the codling.

Give the river a try to boost your confidence plently 1bers knocking about on small tides.

You don't need a massive variety of baits. All u need is Crab and good lugworm. Sandy beaches fish worm and rougher ground fish crab/worm.

Fish Seas after they've been running for more than 24 hours. Best beach for a big sea is on your door step. Theres one not far away that will produce when its dropping off.
