starter Motor

Does anyone out there no where I can get a starter motor for an ENFIELD 1185 I need some help to know where to begin looking the brother-in-law asked, someone out there will surely point me in the right direction...PLEASE blackvelvet

What I did when my alternator ( A hitachi) went I got the model make and manufacturer ( It\'s unlikely the engine maker also made the starter )and ALL numbers on the casing . Don\'t go to a marine engineer or chandler cos there is a very good chance the same starter is used on a car or truck as well . Start at motorist shops and electrical re-wind companies and shop around . My prices varied from £320 to £110 for the same item

Only other thing I can suggest is to try a web search,but also Im sure that I have come across a web site on boats for vintage engine part and spares..............Good Luck

thanks lads will give it a try, I did try enfield on the web but it was all about outboard engines..blackvelvet
