Myself and Jason again left port at 6am, all week it had been a "do i dont i" well we did and almost got away with it.

Set off and cleared the piers at 6.15am then headed for Norman for a chat about the catch as they ahd been out a few hours before us. As we headed out we were met with a strong north wind that was not forecast when i checked the weather on xc and met at 5am.

Anyway me and Jason straight into fish with me taken a full house of coalie and Jason not far behind. This kept up with mackerel, coalie, pouting and codling just about every drop. It was a food store on the fish finder and everything was reduced :)

Well after bagging about 100 coalie and codling etc i made the call to try some further off wrecks but with the sea building it was a gamble. One that never paid off, we got to the wreck landed a nice ling and a nice cod...then we both seen it comming, a massive wave that hit us and crashed into the back of the boat...yep time to go was the call and we headed back leaving just this other silly living thing out there.

But as always we do catch and ended up with about 150 tiiddlers with the odd cod upto 4lb and ling upto 5lb chucked in

A nice day on land but not at sea, wish i could meet the weather people one day :)

All in all still a good day :)

cracking report and pics thats one massive macky i had one last week that i thought was big but that looks even bigger well done on braving the weather

Ow by the way that was the biggest mackerel i have seen, the codling it was next too was about 3lb.

Was just going to say ' That looks like a big mackerel'

Shame about the weather but at least the fish are still there. Hoping to get back out soon so they had better hang around.

Well done

Jonny:)

Great report Richy, I thought it might be a bit lumpy out there, still a canny catch considering.

Nice to see the big fella again :)

good on ya to try further out rich, not too bad inshore but I can imagine how it was out there.
the drift was more problem than the chop today, if there were not many fish around we'de have spent more time trailing the bottom and would have suffered major tackle losses, as it was there was always a fish on the end so not much time spent scratching, just a lot of the time the fish were small or wrong type and went back (but not always :D )

norm

What a good read Rich, what was a no no for some, you made the best of. Everyone loves a tryer. High preasure building this week, but i think the winds are staying eastery:( come back the weather of 1976:D:D

Yer long range for weekend is worse than this weekend with winds and swell double..still they cant get it right 24hrs ahead for 6 days ahead could be anything.

Its a shame as the fish are there now in good numbers, every mark you stop off you get something last 2 weeks :)
