Well after a should i, should i not all of Sunday and watching the weather not get much better, the fisherman in side me said go for it...so at 22.55pm i text Graham to say its on.
With both of us on nightshift tonight we had planned a short trip, so down the boat at 6ish, my word it was windy and i went side ways out my berth just missing a couple of other boats, not a good start.
So that panic over we headed out to a choppy but not rough sea.
So first wreck full of mackerel and coalie and the odd small codling...headed abit further off and we started hitting them well, all cod of nice size. Then i hooked up to a cracker, was pulling line off my reel (only 2nd time that has happened this year) with a firm cod head shake but it chucked the pirk and i was gutted.
But not to be out done after myself and Graham took a few 3-4lbers i hit into a 2nd nice fighter, not as big as the 1st but 1 more double figure cod at 10lb 4oz.
But that was it for the day, the wind was blowing at least 40mph and it was hard keeping your feet so the fat lady starting to sing.We headed in at 11.30am with a few fish for the table and many more put back.
Stingray catch...
15 cod/codling
20+ coalie
1 pouting
30+ mackerel
So today it was HE WHO DARE'S WINS
