Well typing a few words on here just can not do it, it really cant...as i sit here and type i still cant get it fixed in my mind what we had seen today.

Ok the start...well after a nightshift me and Graham again set out at 11am for what was planned as a couple of hours fishing close in but when we got out the sea was better than we thought, no other boats and wind not that bad so we tried a couple of close in marks taken coalie and mackerel but nothing else, moved off shore to a couple that has not fished well for me in the past but Norman did well one day.

Anyway i set the drift but still kept my daylights on as only 6 mackerel for bait but oopps let it hit the bottom and up came a 4lb cod..nothing new so down it went again 2 cod this time 4lb and 5lb...hold on a min thats 3 cod with no jigs of the pirk????

Change rod and down goes a pirk and set of cod daylights above..wack 15lb of prime cod 3 at a time and this just kept going with me and Graham taken 1,2,3 fish every single drop and i mean every single drop for about 4 hours, it was out of this world.

So i am happy to post that this is the most cod i have seen in the 3lb to 8lb+ range in my life time in one day and happier to say we kept 8 and put the rest back.

Stingray catch

100+ cod 3lb-8lb
1 ling 5lb
50+ coalie
12 mackerel
1 pouting
1 pollack

I have left my camera on the boat so i will update with some cracking picks when i get down next and that wont be this weekend.

P.S it was heart in mouth time getting back in, first time thsi year i called the coast gaurd to confirm the esstimated arrival time for the Tyne and number of persons on board, down to 3k with waves over the roof of the boat and the front well under the water 2ft my ass try 12ft

Not bad for 6 hours fishing err :)

haha great read rich, sounds a good un.
I take it the weather turned bad on you .... I did notice this afternoon up at Consett that the wind came up a hoolie , due west but heaving and when your out there coming in its right in your face ........

Fantastic catch, sometimes you just hit those patches, well done mate .... sorry to hear about your other probs and all that, never mind this'll make up somewhat .....

cheers rich

What A Day

What A Day

Everyday's boat fishing in my book is a good day.But today just outshines any other its been absolutely brilliant.I go with the dream of beating my P.B. but that didn't matter, today was all about quantity. Its the most fish Ive ever caught, the most enjoyable and the most tireing. Was only using a pirk and could of caught a lot more had I fished as Richy, set of jumbo hokkai tipped off with a pirk. The ride back to port brought both of us back to earth, several times in fact. It was one HELL of a bumby ride back.
So Richy A BIG THANK YOU once again for your kind invitation to fish onboard Stingray and for a day I'll never forget. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Would like to add that we only brought 8/9 fish home the rest all went back to fight another day.

Sounds like a day you'll never forget for both the catch and the hairy trip home!!!
Went out as well today about 7.30am, headed north to Newbiggin and ok we caught a good few fish but the trip back was a serious white knuckle ride with waves over the top of the boat and the crew checking their life insurance.

Yer we got caught out and it is not looking any better over night.

Like i said it was looking so iffy i informed the RNLI of the location and number on board just incase one of them many waves crashing right over the roof and pushing the boat under the water got the bets of us.

Cheers and hope to get the pics soon, paying for it now i am shattered.

welldone lads prob a session you's will never forget:D and also welldone on returning alot of fish to fight another day;):)

nice one lads shame i was interviewing all day. I am more glad you both got back in safe than the fish but well done on a great day and getting in safe. Lookforward to the next episode

I jason it was alittle like that day we had with the ling last year but smashed that record i was chasing 9 in 9....now 17 in 13 drops :)

Shame weather and work blocking this weekends trips but i feel leave comming on for 1 day next week :)

well done lads, cracking catch. rich get yourself a bigger boat and start doing charters, you'll make a killing. everytime ive been out you've found the fish and plenty of them.

Lol Tony, no leave that job upto the pro's.

Prob would just be me out Jason so i let you know, never a fan of being out there alone.

Just woke up and weather seems ok today but having a day off from it today.

I was up at 4:30 this morning had a look and was itching to go even with the forecast in mind, anyway decided to go back to bed and leave it, looking outside now the wind has strengthened a lot and im happier i didnt go.

Allthough there is still a voice in my mind telling me to try tomorrow {very early} 3;30 am :o

Awesome catch report mate.
