Stingray quick 2011 end of year report

A good season Rich. Won't belong now before the excitement of the returnn of the "Tigers", :)then, Can't get through the damn things to the cod below:rolleyes:. Still be a couple of months before we notice the lighter nights.

Ha ha! , 2nd January and we are all chomping at the bit waiting for the summer :D , I like it ;) January and February are usully dark cold dismal months , but they tend to go past pretty quick , though I think this year February has an extra day in it  :D .
Won't be long till we are heading out the piers missing the sunrise by a couple of hours again :D

You know me Graham the fishies play all day long and lots of wrecks to go around, very very rare its sooner than 6.30am.

Went down the boat yesterday to check her out after the winds, new ropes holding up well, no water in the sump but very damp in the cabin from the cold air so opened the vent up abit more. 10 more weeks mate then its paint time then 12 weeks and its fishing time :)

Been a little while since Ive been on NESA but cracking report and pics together with the turn towards light nights gets me reaching for my sea sickness pills:D

Strange how december although nice for the xmas hols always has a downward feel as its still getting colder and darker but as soon as new year comes and goes its all optimistic "we're nearly there" times ........

Are you lifting out this year as well Norman> its the old lady's 10 year service this year so she getting treated to the normal things such as paint, anodes clean but she is also getting a new cutless bearing, tappets done, new water pump bearing and a new packing box for the shaft seal...none apart from the cutless bearing really needs doing but nice to know its done, 2-3 weeks out of action this year depending on weather and parts waiting times.

Soon be on the close in marks hitting them pan size codling until the mackerel show up and spurr us on even more :)

Ooooooooo Goodie 06:30 I'll re-set my alarm for 05:30 and kid myself I'm having a lazy Sunday lie in.

Shifts are comming off at work soon Graham so maybe alot less Mondays afloat..plus side will have just about every Friday off so 3 day fishing weekend yerrrr

Well with my 4 on 4 off shift pattern I'm sure it will coincide:) some of the time:(. Not sure if I could manage 3 days asleep afloat:eek:, did I say sleep I meant Fish :D :D :D :D

Just do what you do most trips, catch a cod then watch me fish for the next 1hr then a little sleep then you start fish again :0)

Any targets for 2012 then?

Already told you mine ......

Get at least 70 days at sea

Catch a PB wolfish 5lb+

Spend abit of time for the wrasse up the yellow cann

Have a fun trip in Norway and hope to get a 30lb cod and 4lb+ Haddock and a lump fish but some a long shot.

Targets For 2012

More Trips Out Than 2011 = More Sleep Time.

New P.B

More Double Figured Cod

Lovely Days Out

More Dolphins/Whales

2nd that with the DOLPHINS AND WHALE, special days them when we had them around the boat and that little one was turning on its side to look up at us...great days....the double cod...dont think we will beat that this year for the numbers of doubles caught..BUT WE WILL GIVE IT A BLOODY GOOD GO.

Did You Say That Royal Quays Now Only Weighs The Fish Gutted To Be Entered Into The Heaviest Fish Competion At The Marina
We Certainly Will Have To Give It Some This Year.

Yer but its better i think, less mess for the marina and means more vouchers for people as the weight should go up slower unless someone gets a 20lber gutted first weekend lol.

2012 my wishlist...to get a car..then around march/april having a boat share with stepdad in a wilson flyer, arriva wouldn't allow me on the bus last time i went fishing (my squid must have had an awesome odour trail lol)..and i couldnt get a taxi so had to walk from blyth to cramlington (i'm sure i could use the bus again but i just cant chance having to do all that again) ..and with me having limited mobility its had me in bed for a couple of days (i did complain but just got a rubbish letter back saying fear of contamination and discomfort of other passengers)...so yeah..i just need a car! lol

Aye rich out to repair a faulty raw water intake (siezed valve) and maybe a new external strainer, so will do a full makeover while shes out. That ought to keep me going for a couple more years (touch wood).
Probably take her out first decent spell of weather after end of February ....
Then it'll be "Fish ON ..." whooo hoooo
see you in the boatyard

Yer coupel more weeks for me18th of March i am out the water unless weather is really bad, hoping for a bit luck with the cutless bearing then like you say "FISH ON"

Ow should of sad when i was down the marina on Monday with the winds checked your boat and couple other lads on here...ropes fine no missing fenders as Royal Quays had a pile of fenders that had blown off..worst recorded wind on the Tyne for 34 years the Tyne report said.

some excelent fish, would love a boat, il have to invest some day. how much do they set you back (a small boat ) say a yearly cost?
