strange band names

used to go to loads of gigs and see local bands, i love my music like my fishing it was a shame when they pulled the mayfair down and the riverside changed into something like a dance club, best band so far was lynyrd skynyrd up in glasgow in 2003 cos i thought i would never get to see them fantastic i never stoped grinning for days :D :D

It was a disgrace that the Mayfair got pulled down,it was the only remaining Ballroom in Newcastle as far as I know,I think the new Carling Adademy over the West End is going to turn into something similar to the Mayfair when it opens,

i hope so alan cos there is no real decent venue for bands, the arena is crap and far to expensive and the staff, well what can i say  . the opera house is ok though but not big enough

The Carling Academy is the old bingo hall at the end of Clayton Street opposite The Star pub ,however looking at the first few gigs it looks a bit \"young\" ,my oldest lad who\'s nearly 16 can\'t wait to get in the mosh pits lol, I think I might join him and get rid of some aggression LMFAO.

Carling Adademy ???? is that for us older blokes Alan lmao.

Jim.
behave,I did see that lastnight but forgot to reply :D
Aye Steve my mate at work is going to see Cradle of Filth,he\'s nearly 40 lol and he\'ll be in amongst it all :D

Tony....I think they\'re called \'Tucker\'.....They\'ve just had a gig down in Liverpool where the Beatles were discovered ( excuse not knowing the name of the place but the Beatles were b4 my time)

XLR8R
Hellanbach (think thats the spelling?)
Tigertailz
Wasch!
Pinkertons Assorted Colours

Strangest song title for me would have to be:

\"Jeremiah peabodys poly unsaturated quick dissolbving fast acting pleasant tasting green and purple pills\" by Ray Stevens.

Knew one of the lads from XLR8TR. Marc Savage.....every lass I knew who either drunk in Trillians or Fat Sams or who hung around the green went a bit weak at the thought of him....I dunno why.....But hey ho.....

There was another band whose name escapes me at the minute but it had something to do with sponges and they were quite good, but the worst local band I had to have seen was one called Manslaughter (who drunk beer not water, the most memorable and shittest lines of a song ever) and the worst thing about it was my Physics teacher (Mr Newton) was in it and when they played Fat Sams I was sat there in absolute horror when he walked in cos I should not have been there only being 16 and all....

Dunno what was worse....seeing a teacher out of school and him drinking in the same pub as me or to have the teacher walk up to you and start chatting you up and knowing who I was...............hmm

ha, ha, ha like that one clare.
my mates band played trillians they have a strange and clever name at the same time FR8, but they hate being called freight

Do you\'s still get in Trillians Clare, dont get out as much as I used to but always call in when I\'m in the Toon, happy days :D

not as often as I used to alan....used to be in every Friday night and Saturday from tea time onwards....specially after going to the green..... and we would all go to the mayfair (both nights) it was a right laugh.

If you ever see us in there give us a shove and say hello

I still see Mark Savage quite a bit, there was a band that so very nearly made it. I used to go to the mayfair all the time apparently, but only have other peoples word for it!

aye the mayfair was a great place for bands and for a friday sat night but a lot of them nights i can\'t remember. but what i do remember is crying with laughing at some of the god awful sites on the dance floor (me being into punk at the time) i supose i looked no better myself. mind you these stange looking rockers used to pull every week and in all the years of going there only managed once and for a very short time. ah the good old days :D :D :D :D :D

cheers
mark, (thats me)

Yes Mark...I have vivid memories of me and Lyn watching you fall down at the mayfair......and you probably will not remember that either......but trust me...Lyn and I nearly pissed our pants laughing at your attempts to get up.

its a shame all the good places have gone or changed names and stuff
here\'s just a few of my farvorites. the archer ( still there but i bet its not half as good), the haymarket, broken doll, the barley mow (newcasle side) market tavern, the one on the same street as the city hall but at the northumberland street end, now a posh place with lots of glass, the dog and parrot which changed its name then changed it back and its still a good pub. these were and some still are some of my favorites good crack good beer and decent music

Broken Doll,Hotspur,Farmers,Trillians,Farmers,Percy then to the Mayfair, sometimes the Haymarket or Fat Sams when they were open
