not fish i know but while fishing the spinner hooked and caught 2 guillemots, fairly hooked as well, they took the spinner.
also caught a cormmorant on a dead bait while piking, what a fight i got off it !!!!!!!!!
my mate caught the weirdest fish ive ever seen on the boat we still dont know what it was {it was about 5 inches long it looked like a sand eel but it didnt have any lips it just had massive pin like teeth we told a guy about it and he reckond that it drills a hole through other fish and eats there insides?}
Hi welly was it pink, if so, it was probably a hagfish, and they do latch on to other fish and bore in to them. last year i was fishing the short beach at shields and found a lesser spotted dogfish curled up just like a rock, when i touched it with my boot, it moved, so i put it in the sea ,in a few minutes it swam away cool eh
One year during the mackerel season, sometime in the late 60\'s there were huge amounts of Horse mackerel (or Scad as they are sometimes known) being caught from Roker pier.
Never seen or heard of one being caught since.
If you do ever catch one; don\'t bother eating it as you won\'t get near the flesh for bones!
