good day all ve got a solid stuck reducer ....have tried hairdryer , ice....brute strength ...combined brute strength ..nowt works .....any advice short of sawing it off. cant cast with it on ..i know some ppl can but i cant cast with the damn thing .......any adv is much appreciaated

Hi mate, would the heat not just expand things? Its freezing outside, you could leave it out for a while if poss and try again. Helps if you've got someone else twisting one way while you twist another.

Put some marigolds on, they give you a better grip. Two man job - one hold the reducer one the rod but. Twist in opposite directions while pulling apart. It might not come apart at once - when my TT Sport got stuck together it took four days to get apart, a little bit at a time twisting and pulling then leaving for a few hours then twisting and pulling...

Try putting it outside in the cold for 1/2 hour. Worked great with the section joint on my kompressor so it may work with reducer joint also.

Sorry MT but I disagree:red:
Its a 2 man job alright but you need to pulling directly straight back,no twisting,it fecks the carbon by creating friction heat:o
I've done it with my salmon fly rods, two geezers pulling toe to toe and keep the rod as straight as you can,it will shift!
Good advice is to lightly rub the male ferrule with candle wax before using the rod,it wont come apart during normal use but it will come apart a treat after fishing.Trust me,this is good advice from experience:)
I thank you and expect extreme gratitude:):D

This is the way in which we used to remove 2 pole sections that were solid while coarse fishing. You need 2 people pull either side hard and another rotates the joint in a circular motion.

This works every time with pole joints ad they're very fragile. Might be easier with a stuck spigot rather than a reducer in this case though

put some a bag of frozen peas or ice cubes around the joint for 20 mins, that might sort it out. my eliminator spigot expands when its under the car heater so should shrink when its cold. or u could try putting the tripod leg down the rod and hit the reducer out.

hi what type of reducer is it homemade or is it a bought one were abouts are you located i can normaly get them out.

you have to be very careful a lad i know has just split his zziplex butt trying to get reducer out.

wrap some neoprene or an old cycle inner tube round as it'll give you that bit extra grip.
i try'd for ages to get my kompressor apart, an old guy passing told me to spit on ya hand and rub it on before ya join em together and av neva had any problems since.

If your stuck is it not possible that you could slide the reelseat down so that it is on top of where the reducer meets the rod and fish like that.

Up turn the rod and squirt WD40 into the joint 2/3 times a day and try it each day until it comes free. Ive had success 3 times now with this method.

Had the same problem myself with a zziplex m427 id left the reducer in all winter and couldnt budge it.

Tried heat, cold, rubber strapping with 4 people on the rod all to no avail in the end the only thing that worked was to find some suitable diameter metal tube put it down the rod butt and gently tap the reducer out.

You may damage the very end of the reducer so be careful on what you use.

i know why they call it reducer now .....my fishing time and enjoyment has been severely reduced lol.....anyhow gonna try the wd40 in a few mins hope thats work or even three in one oil....had a ook on the beach today as well nothing to enticing no waver or nowt so not in a super rush like

Ask John/r to turn you a nylon plug to slide down the inside of the butt, then follow up this plug with a heavy bar...go easy and it will come out without damage.
Same happened to me and this method worked.

Best of luck H
