Summer in Whitley Bay

I remember Feathers caravan at Whitley site joined the social club in 1969 cause they had a late bar till midnight and let 16 year olds in :D
had some good nights there plenty of young lasses with their own vans ;)

Good crack mate.

Anyone remember the appolo night club bar at Berwick holiday centre:D?

Used to be a canny park until it was overrun by "noisy ppl"

Then started going to scoutscroft but it spread there. Ha

Scoutscroft was a popular campsite for geordies. Used to have a couple of trips a year camping there. Unfortunately they don't allow tents now-probably due to the noise and trouble that was caused. With its close proximity to St Abbs it was a popular choice for divers to stay at.

Hi Mark, Although Blyth pier does get very busy for the mackerel, most of what has been said happens on the end of the pier, so if you fish over high water, you can fish in relative "peace" as the pier is about 300mtrs long, and on an evening, mackerel are taken along it's length.
The ice cream at Deleval is the best I have ever tasted, (vanilla) and have been a customer there since the 60's.
The area's around Whitley bay to fish for summer cod, Pollock, etc, are heavy weed shots, so 40lb line straight through to a 5-6oz weight and single hook is advised with peeler crab best option.
Pleased for the good news for you both, so have a good season and best of luck.
