Summer spinning

Areet lads, planning on doing quite abit Spinning and Float Fishing during Summer, I've done a little bit spinning a Multiplier and Beachcaster using daylights and used a couple of lures on the spinning rod I've got, also Float Fished for Trout and Ledgered etc...
What sort of lures etc will I need and float setup? Im planning on hitting Dunstanbrough abit, saying as the caravan is 5 minutes away.
Any help at all will be sound, Cheers Steveo...;)
 
Alrite mate, the float setup i use is like this

as for lures, you can use just about anything, ive had a lot of fish up there on 28g Zenith Silver spinners, and on Jelly worms, my bigger fish being on jellies,

Sorry i cant offer any advice as i've never tried this apart from the daylights at ssp as Stevoe said, but i will watch this post with interest as i'm also looking to do quite a bit of spinning during the summer St Abbs, Mull of Galloway etc

ill be keeping an eye on this thread as well as i fancy doing a lot of spinning during the summer, at dunstanborough and and the vaious rocks around the sheilds / marsden area, not fished there before or done a lot of spnning but they look good and the bonus will be avoiding the crowds on the piers
 
is that dunstanburgh your fishing there. looks like it may be wrong though. had a good sea trout up there in summer

there great on the light gear, you'll also get loads of good coaly up there along with mackerel and cod, also had wrasse up there on the float.

TOP TIP mate, cast along the rock not straight out to sea ;-)

I had heard that like mate, castin along the rocks, not straight out....

whem im float fishing, what bait and depth? is it just keep adjusting till i find summik ???

Would love a wrasse!!
 
I did a bit years ago on the MOG cought some nice Pollock on the float wor lass beat me with an 8lb one, last year i was down S/S pier spinning and float fishing for maccy now i am hooked great fun and better than casting daylights on the big rods.

A small strip of maccy and yes just ajust your float untill you find them fiish
 
I use the same float setup as the diagram previously mentioned except I put a bead between the weight and the swivel as well to protect the knot. Dexter wedges are excellent spinners and I've caught loads on them 28g size (mackie, pouting, pollack) but they are a bit more expensive (about £3 each) so if you are fishing rough ground close to the bottom like Shields Pier /The Leas you can't go far wrong with a 28g Zenith Silver Minnow which are only just over a quid each in Reelsports so you don't mind losing a few.

rag worm mate, I normaly find set my float around 9-13ft, if that fails set it so you baits on the bottom and work your way up.

Oh and for Wrasse, don't bother casting just float as close to the rock edge as you dare

I made my own lures last year and did pretty well with them for the Mackerel. I bought a cheap 35g mould and some trebles from Ebay, made some loops with wire and stuck on some holographic tape and that was it. I use a cheapo 8ft bendy rod and small fixed spool, great sport. Howking them in with a 13ft beachcaster and a string of daylights is RAF if you ask me.
