Fished this today with my son Arran, john was supposed to be fishing but duffed it at the last minute,we got to roker pier about 11.30,pretty quiet when we went on,but come 1.00 o clock it was heaving.....We started off opposite the last steps.

Arrans first cast he fluffed it,attrocious wind did not help, not to worry as he brought in a sized coaley and a codling 2lb 1oz,after that he brought in another 3 coaleys but nothing bigger than the codling.Meanwhile his dad was struggling to get a fish in and losing a lot of gear :crying2:
Plenty fish coming in off the neck end but mainly whiting and undersize coalies.
About 3.00 the water was starting to lip the pier so decided to move inshore and fished just past the barrier, this seen to be more productive and would say most of the codling weighed in came from here, quite a few caught in the bay before the first steps, the winner however came about 30 yards up from us,just over 9lb on high water, lad from the west coast, very nice fish,i managed a coaley but Arran kicked my butt big style.......Well done Arran :D:D:
Arran came 18th overall and bagged himself a canny prize as well

i fished the barrier from 1 til 5, only catching 1 undersize tommy, 14 undersized coleys and on last cast a 36cm coley, so kust scraped by for the weigh in, didnt wait around for my prize, just told me mate to get it for me and he could keep it. Wind was a nightmare at times and the old man to the left of me keep casting over me, but hey thats fishing and i enjoyed the day

the young un with the codling is the young un i was walking off through the pier gates with, nice codling for him, well done

Congrats to the wee man on his fish and his prize. He looked well chuffed when he was going upto the prize table. My daughter loves fishing and so does the wife. The wife already kicked me ass this year at the salmon fishing  so she aint got a hope o coming cod bashing :D

well done the lad it will be great for him to realise the effort he has put in gets rewarded with a prize because of the knowledge he has gained
