Hi mate,
Thanks for your reply. I've never had any problems with braided loop collars untill my last session, when the collar had worked loose and I lost the loop,my leader and fly when I flicked the rod ready for casting. I put it down to the collar catching the rings of the rod, and gradualy working itself loose from the braid. The rod I was using at the time had ordinary rings and not the snake type (which by their design would seem to be less prone to catching the collar). I wasn't too bothered at the time, but was a bit relieved that I didn't loose a fish.
I also use a braided loop and collar to attatch the fly line to the backing, so you can imagine the horror of not only loosing a good fish, but £50.00 Snowbee fly line skimming over the surface of the Derwent heading towards the middle of the reservior, if it became detached at this end !
Took the advice of the previous post and used loctite superglue. Seems fine, bot it's not waterproof. However when Iv'e tried waterproof glues they don't seem to adhere to the collar properly, so regular checks will be the order of the day.
Cheers mate......catch up with you soon.
