surfmaster fixed spool

hi guys just wanting to know if any of you used the penn surfmaster 850 or 750 are they really good fixed spool reels? was thinking of getting one of em would u suggest 850 with bigger spool or 750 with faster retrieve? some ppl say they r awesome...and some ppl say they are very fragile. honest feedback appreciated good or bad...

I got the 850 and it was fine on clean sandy beaches but as soon as i got into any kelp it struggled big time. When i took the reel into my local tackle shop it looked like new on outside but inside was bust.

i had one and its no good for rough ground. clean beach work its a dream.

i have both ov them and use them of the peirs and the beaches had no problems retreving any fish ive caught in

I purchased the 750 a few weeks ago and cant fault it at all, nice smooth cast and never had any problem with the retrieve....

ive got the 850 and love it! i use mine on piers and beaches never had a problem retreiving either. best fixed spool ive ever used.hope this helps

Ocassionally use a 850 depending on where I'm fishing - loaded with 30ib braid + 60ib shockleader - also use a cannon trigger - smooth casting (which is overun free) fastest retrieve I have ever had - even faster than the penn 525 mag 2 - havn't had a pig on yet to really try it out - but it pulls in weed and all the other crap as easy as the 525.

i got mine off ebay i paid £46.00 including postage,that was new in box with spare spool.
