Sweet William?

Me Dad keeps going on about Sweet William he used to always get from the local chippy, anyone have any idea what fish this is from? Cheers!

Dogfish,i didnt know this but my friend google did, iv'e never heard it called that before.only heard of "rock" or "rock salmon.anyway heres a link

Yes it's dogfish. Had some last year while fishing in Scotland. It's nice fresh but it's a nitemare to do coz you have to skin them it's easier said than done.

Yes dogfish. They have a lovely flavour good texture and no fiddly bones. This is different to Rock Salmon which is huss.

Skinning them is easy if you remove the head and fins then cut a line up the skin on both sides. You can then peel it off in two big flaps using a pair of pliers and rolling (not pulling). I have heard of people drying the skin and using it as sandpaper but I've never done that myself

sweet william is dogfish ...i used to work for the said chippy boss and once asked him what it was..he told me it was dogfish ...
