Sweethope 8th March

Well I had my first trip up to Sweethope this season today. On arrival at the little lough there was still ice in the margins and the forecast wind was way in excess of what was stated. Still had a cracking day as the place is magic but the fishing was slow-ish. I managed two rainbows and a small pike. One of the rainbows was a nice overwintered, full finned one of just under 2lb and gave me a great fight. I had about four other pulls all to various lures on an intermediate line.

I think I will leave it another couple of weeks until I venture up again and hopefuly the water temperature has risen a little. My mate that was with me had one rainbow and my other friend that turned up fo the afternoon session blanked, not naming names.....Darren!:D

nice fish always blowing a gale when i go up , jamcod

Aye,theres quite often a stiffish breeze at Sweethope but like most other stillwaters, fish into the wind, you dont need to be very far out to be among the fish coz thats where the food gets blown:)
Had some cracking days up there, you only need to be 10/15yds out with an inty to keep the wind influence to a minimum;)
