Anyone have an opinion on best link to put on main line to connect to rigs and what size do you recommend for both shore and boat scenarios.

Just a personal thing but I prefer not to use a swivel anywhere on a load bearing part of the rig unless on the very rare occasion I use a pulley rig.

Gemini rig clip at the end of my shockleader and a small oval split ring at the top of my rig, safe, secure and can change rigs over in seconds when double patting.

Agree copes with power casting and never had one fail pulling out of a snag

what size oval split rings do you use ?
was looking at some the other week 19mm x 9mm 62lb test rate , think they should be ok but wanted something about 80lb test for safety
if i find any lol

Exactly the way I do it. I got slated last week for using a split ring instead of a swivel (you know who you are :)) I have always made my rigs this way and will continue to do so. Really easy to swap rigs and more reliable than a swivel I reckon.
