T1000 casting braid

This is possibly the most unrefined casting style you could use with braid IMO. I'm surprised there's any bait left on the hook !

The reason I say this is not to get peoples backs up or slate Gary as he is a very accomplished angler. I've found that with braid you have to slow everything down and use a longer drop otherwise it's very harsh and unless you use two miles of elastic your bait presentation will suffer. Might even do yourself an injury.

Wouldn't fancy whacking all that power in with the lead swinging about like that! I'd end up doing myself a mischief lol. On the plus side, rod seems to handle the rough stuff with ease lol

unrefined

unrefined

I,d actualy say its a completely refined cast and is far more practical than most other casting styles hes able to cast in confined spaces standing on rocks seaweed and other places and ground whicg isnt ideal he also capable when needed to put a bait and large lead further than most people believe humanly possible and the bait is apparently intact enough to catch more fish than most as for the shorter drop surely drop length is imaterial when the shockleader if used or mainline doesnt stretch at all

looks a nice cast he makes it look effortless really, would of been a better video if he'd fallen off the rock like would of made a great you've been framed.

Even more reason to use a longer drop with no stretch. Try a 3ft lash cast then a more 'refined' cast with a longer drop. I understand he's a lot peoples hero over the water though.

the drop on that cast that gary uses is morethan half the length of the rod and like chip says he can put a lead and bait more than us mere mortals could only dream off and makes it look easy but gary is a strong powerful lad very decieving it has to be seen to believe

Ive just started tring with braid and bought an okum a salt reel but with a cast like Gary's I take it he prob use straight 80lb through and no leader or what's lads opinion who have been casting with braid a while please

Pretty sure he uses a leader and 45lb braid not 100% though I like 50-60lb braid and 100lb braid leader your best off seeing what suits your style of fishing
