Am heading over to the Whithorn area in a few weeks for me summer exped' and have just googled bait/tackle and found that there's a little Ironmongers in Whithorn saying that they sell bait etc...

Has anyone used this fella before and does anyone know if it's frozen bait IE sandeels and the like or whether he does worm?

cheers in advance :)

there is a good tackle shop at newton steward at the turn of to whithorn they sell good bait and they put it up in front of you so you can see what you are getting and you can get plenty of info

cheers for the info mate ;)

I emailed the shop and they responded with...

just had a delivery today - we stock ammo frozen bait.

Have mackeral, sand eel, and others...

We also just got in some new rods, reels, stingers, mackeral feathers and weights so do come along for a look.

Although our shop name is life's little ironies - we have just taken over and haven't had a sign done yet. It says homemaker supplies at the moment and is 118 George Street.

Google maps link: Life's Little Ironies - Google Maps

Handy for quick bait purchase in the area - the other shop in Newton Stewart does worm but it'd be an hour round trip to get it

I have got worm and sandeels off this ironmongers in the past, but depending on how long you are going up for you can dig rag in stranraer and you can also get crab.

the harbour at whithorn you can get razor fish, crab and lug.but this depends on the size of the tide.the harbour smells at bit so take some waders.
