tactics over rough ground hartlepool?

booked up for a trip out of hartlepool tommorow last minute thing rough ground hartlepool and further north i think ive only ever fished wrecks and wondering what tactics to use and what rigs to use
thanks for any help

Always do well using a leadhead with a big orange grub on a hopper rig. Seems to outfish the pirks by quite a way, and it\'s easier! :D

WHo you out with mate. I have always had good days off the north of hartlepool at this time of year with baited daylites. Rag, squid, crab and muscle etc. Just make sure you use fresh bait each time you are wound up and i found that just letting the sea and the boat move the bait with the odd movement of the rod upwards works well.
Enjoy your day mate wish i was out instead of work.

Get your bait onto the bottom for cod - if you\'re more than a foot or two up, you\'ll be pestered by whiting all day. I use either a single or pennell about 4-5 foot off any boom (ashpole, eddystone, makes little difference). Squid, lug, mackerel all work. Haven\'t tried lures, intend to this summer. Best fishing seems to be in just over 100 foot depth. Be prepared to lose some tackle on weedy snags.

cheers lads i tried everything but only a few pout for me and only 5 codling and only one whiting allday and we tried a few wrecks nowt but a canny day out beats work

Which boat did you go out on ?

We were due to go out on Flamer II tomorrow, but the crap weather has put an end to it :casstet:
