been a while since I last posted due to work and other commitments not had much spare time for fishing but Iam off on the family holiday next week and we have an apartment next to the harbour which has charter fishing the other half thinks I planned it but honestly I didnt , I was wondering if anyone has fished here and what iam likely to catch . dont think I can pass on an opportunity to fish for some excotic fish

I fished out of Porto colon ( think ita spelt like that) habour in tenerife quite a few year back. i never caught anything but one lad hooked into a marlin, gave a great fight and snapped the 80lb leader!

a marlin will do me even if its only hooked for a few mins lol. Ive caught steel head to 9lb and wild rainbows in the usa and they were like trains . think I will have to pack wor lass and the girls off to the water park for the day and have a day afloat

hI mate, i've been fishing in tenerife loads over the last few years, theres plenty of fishing, but also plenty of expensive scams too! We fish on a boat called Crested Wave out of Los Cristianos and the trip is split into bait fishing and trolling for the big stuff. Aint seen a marlin but have had tuna, but the cream of the fishing is on the bottom. They supply you with 50lb class gear because the place is LIFTING with massive rays usually sting rays and i've had them to over 120lb on this boat. I've never hooked anything like these boys and with stand up gear there awesome. You can catch the rays off the beach at night too but be very carefull with the stingrays. Theres some good mullet fishing and i've had barracuda of the breakwaters on live baits. You can buy very cheap vertical jigs from tenerife 4/5 euros so keep some room in your case!

that boat will be easy to remember cos I fished on wave crest last month out of the tyne sounds good I have already been warned about the scams and that is where we are staying so looks like it will be a trip on her do you know if they take single bookings and is there a tackle shop nearby thank for any info I will have to post a catch report after my trip

hi mate, single bookings are fine and i would book on line asap as their very busy, their website is crestedwave.com. There is an excellent tackle shop just off the harbour in los cristianos ask at the crested wave kiosk at the harbour and they will direct you. Theres also a fresh fish place on the harbour thats where i get my dead baits for the rays. Its a fart on taking the beach gear on the plane but well worth it. Had rays to about 40lb off the beach at nite and got snapped 4 times on 40lb trilene!!! Wire traces are a must tho.

cheers mate I will be there for 2 weeks so I will probly buy some gear over there and bring it back
