Well Lynn and I headed down to Crimdon Dene Caravan park on Friday.

We had arranged to meet Persues on the way down, as I was lucky enough to be first to say "yes please" to buying his brand new Gortex jacket, which unfortunately didn't fit him. Says a lot for the guy that he sold it for what he had paid for it, as he could easily have doubled the price and it would have still been a bargain for the buyer. (Nice meeting you Barry, I hope we meet up on a beach one day.)

We also met up with Stevie today, to pick up a pair of waders that he didn't want anymore (spare the jokes about tight Scotsmen please!). We arranged the pick up on Middleton pier and Lynn and I had a good chat with him and his pal Dave. Watched Stevie pull in a nice flattie as well.

Thanks Stevie, and will PM you before we come back in July, for a shore session.

Our biggest thanks are reserved for Paul The Spark, who generously Pm'd me with the offer to pick me up at the caravan site, on our arrival, and show me some local shore marks. How kind is that?!

Paul met me as promised and took me in his car to numerous marks around Hartlepool and also offered advice on whether it was a low, or high water mark, and what might be caught. Great advice and so helpful, as reading forum reports can only get you so far. Lynn and I intend to try a couple of the marks on Tuesday and Friday and I will put up a report on how we get on.

Thanks again Paul and we look forward to meeting you in July for a day out. I will text you nearer the time.

These guys have really made us feel so welcome down this neck of the woods and looking forward to the rest of the week and can't wait to come back in July.

Out tomorrow on Sapphire out of Sunderland. 5am alarm call, so better sign off now.

Thanks again guys, we are loving our time in the North East.

It was a pleasure meeting you and Lynn too Mark, and I hope the jacket gives you years of faithful service.

Good luck to you both over the remaining days of your trip down here, and I fully expect to see "bragging rights" catch reports when you show the folks down here how it's done :)

Safe journey when you head back home, and let's hope Lynn manages another "best fish of the day".
