Winning league cup gets you into what was uefa cup. As man city are already in champs league, their slot goes to 6th or 7th in premier depending on who has already qualified

City will be in Europe already so will give the mags another "slot" to aim for and Sunderland will not get there on league position

Unlucky Sunderland, a fantastic effort. In the end the extra quality told, but an enjoyable final and best team won.
