Well after months of her asking to come fishing with me and me telling her she was to young and little i decided to take her today as i had some crab left from yesterday.
we headed to jarrow riverside park and we got set up at the old red shelter.
i set up my spinning rod for her and with a little help we got cast out, it was really quiet with nothing happening for me or her and i was waiting for the words "i'm bored" to come but to my surprise they never instead she said "dad i'm having a great day, your the bestest daddy in the world" which nearly brought a tear to me eye and that was before we even caught any thing.
anyways she wanted to reel her rod in so i would peel some crab for fresh bait as she found it hilarious lol, as she pulled it over the railings she saw she had this hooked..
a crab which she was over the moon with lol and put her in the lead.
an hour or 2 had passed and the words still hadn't came and in fact it was me who was wanting to go home, the weather was crap there was nowt happening and i wanted my dinner but no she made us stay untill we used all the crab. anyway we were soon down to our last crab each we cast out and with in minutes i got a little knock and pulled in a whiting which brought us level.
with daddys whiting
i started to pack my stuff away pleased i never blanked or more importantly got beat off me 3 year old daughter, then all off the she shouts "daddy daddy my rods moving"
i thought to myself it cannit be can it ? she struggled to reel this 1 in so new she must of had some thing on so i give her a little hand and to the delight of her and the misery of me she pulled this in..
that was it 2-1 to her and we had no bait left am never going to here the end off this i thought to myself but the smile on her face and how happy she was softened the fact i had just been beat of my 3 year old daughter haha. so the day ended 2-1 to her cos apparently a crab counts ?
i had been putting off taking her for months because i thought she would of got bored and wanted to leave straight away but come the end off the day we had been there around 3 hours in the rain with hardly no fish and she still didn't want to go home and wasn't happy that we had ran out of bait and telling me i should of brought more and now she's all ready asking when were next going.
all in all despite the defeat i've had a great day and spent some quality bonding time with me daughter now it looks like am going to have to whack the over time in at work as she now wants her own rod and reel but they have to be bloody pink lol
