the fishermans locker

Reg, you will be one of the more sensible members on the Locker!! I joined, never use it now.

Obviously you don't think much of it Kayos ;-). As I said in my reply to reg I won't bother with the facebook lark.

Hows the the Clyde fishing these days? Did a lot of fishing up in the Clyde lochs in the 70's. Kilmun jetty? Say no more :-O

The locker, in my opinion is full of guys selling stuff, photos of fish with no reports and guys swearing and arguing. Funny for about two days, but I soon got bored with it.

The upper Clyde, in fact most of the Clyde, is almost devoid of the species it used to be crammed with - which is why we come down to you. As you say, it was the other way round until the 80's.

Yes. It was dropping off in the late 70's when I last fished it and I heard it all went completely tights up in the early 80's seemingly very strangely and all of a sudden really. From your experience it obviously hasn't improved much in the 35 years since.

Cheers

Nothing strange about it really, the elimination of the 3 mile limit in 1983 allowed trawlers to come up the Clyde and hoover up all the fish, it has never recovered. Prawn trawlers still trawl the upper Clyde and even under 10 metre boats work the area when they think it's worth their while - like the Mackerel season!

The locker is the best local site for buying/selling gear and bait, better seeing reports of fish caught on there than nothing at all on here. Second hand news, gear not sold on facebook and bickering is all Nesa is now. The site is stale, no updates, the owner never bothers and mods are only seen to ban people far too late. All of the people who used to post the funny, interesting catch reports and run species hunts etc are gone. Guess where?
