There were rumours last week that one of the boats out of the Tyne had two or three mackerel in their catch.

Could just be a rumour, but you never know...

If the weather stays like this they could be up here tomorrow by first class post:D

I hope so, I might get my spinning rod out for the first time this year tomorrow for a couple of hours. With high water coinciding fairly close to sunset there could be a good chance of some fishies.

I was down south at the weekend and the talk in the tackle shop in Crawley was of BASS off Brighton marina :) sadly as i was visiting my sick mum i wasn't allowed to nip down for a go  but i'm down there for a week at Easter so the gear most definetly will be packed

yeah my mate lives in newquay and said the macky are starting to show now.
Tempted to go down there this summer

a heard there was 8 caught, av been busy movin house and internet just been connected, but a was watching an old episode of trawlermen the other day and after a refit the biggest boat in the fleet out of peterhead was trawlling for mackeral, one trawel and he had 500 tonne in the net, the had to suck them up.
it seems unberlievable that so much fish can be caught in one net. can the little mackeral survive such fishing. ? .

As alread said the mackerel we get on our coast come down from the north and spend most of the winter in the depths north west of Scotland, they have been getting a hammering over the winter as our friends far up north have been landing them with no restrictions much to the anger of the EU and the Scott's who have stopped them landing the catch in most ports.

Anyway back to the subject....very much doubt we will see any before the 3rd week in April, if you think back to last year end of March and all of April was the best it was fantastic weather wise and we had a wash out from end of June until Autum and the mackerel never showed until the 1st week of May.

Our seasons are changing but the mackerel we get (bigger) are heading our way but not here yet :)
