Had a fairly good summer over there with all the usual species - nowt big mind. Fairly poor on the bass side. I think everyone over there has had it leam on the bass !!

Been looking at Windguru for a quiet spell to close the van down. Looks dire over Luce Bay for the next 7 days. Intend to have a few last blasts off the shore when we do get back over.

Will bring my beachcaster back with the intention of having the odd session over the winter. My old haunts used to be Whitley Pipe/Cullercoats Bay/Slaytey Gut/The Chair many moons ago. Are they still worth a shot ???

thanks for the advice over there

we shall see you next summer over there for a couple off pints :D,cheers for the advice and the marks you took us to ,whitley bay area is fishing well after a big sea so all areas you mentioned worth a try over the winter mate, just be carefull of cullercoats piers it only takes one freak wave and you and your gear are gone, never fish this mark alone ;)cheers ,mark

No bother Gary, see you over there next year then!!

Aye POP 39 a few beers sound good.

Looks like we are going over tomorrow to close up for the winter. Its always a sad occasion, not to worry roll on some good 2010 MOG adventures.

May see some of you on the local beaches then - I will be the one using the old Mitchell fixed spool as my beach multiplier has just buggered up :-(

Well thats the van shut and me back in sunny Whitley bay !!! Will be keeping an eye on the weather forecasts looking for a decent chance for a hoy. What is the preferred bait for cod these days?? not up to speed on this coast I am afraid. Used to be partial to a night session on Whitley Pipe. Its only a few minutes walk for me so will probably try there first.

john you won,t go wrong with lug and rag, blacks if you can get them ? i like a big bait normaly i will find something to tip off with like crab, squid or razors or mussel i find it takes the crabs a bit longer to eat all the bait ,just my preferences ,i have never fished whitley bay for a couple of years though mate ,hope this helps :D

whitley pipe and pipe skeers have fished well so far this season, as have many marks on whitley beach.
need a good sea going for the beach, pipe tends to fish better after a good blow.
lug, rag, mussel, razzor, squid, crab all tend to work :D
tackle shop in whitley bay, used to be temples, now called lewis tackle, spot on shop, good bait and cracking bunch of lads ;D
