The butts are the same but one has 3ft of glass tip the other is all carbon. All carbon tip is more powerful but in turn means it doesn't forgive mistakes.
The GT tip folds away when cast meaning your rod feels shorter and hence is easier to cast without it biting back and forcing you over the top.
Casting lads seem to prefer the GT for the heavier leads and carbon tip for the lighter ones.
The GT will feel very very soft in the tip if your not used to this type of rod. The carbon tip is a capable rock rod, GT more of an all rounder with superb bite detection.
Dont mistake a soft tip for a soft rod, they are beasts!!
An m427 would be a better rod to learn on, much more progressive and with much more feel.
