well as i do very often i get sick of sitting in the house (cos i dint get out fishing much ya nahs ) lol so decided to head off for a few days fishing with me mate stu , the mull of galloway was the choice which we was suppose to go up the week before but the weather had put a dampner on that too ,we arrived tuesday teatime after a long 4 hour odd drive and rain didnt help either , set up tent not even any time to stretch the old legs me mate was eager to have a couple of hours close to where we pitched the tent so i managed to force meself to go along and fish :D

the area we decide to fish wasnt very deep but we did manage a few pollock between us in that time around the pound mark just enough to give us a taster for the next day

then back to the tent for some munch followed by some refreshments :D we had a bit crac on with one the other campers next to us that was off to the local pub for a slurp . not long after he left the wind and rain got up and almost blew his dining area away we couldnt do nowt but laff at the time or do anything about it incase he came back and thought we was robbing hes pots and pans

excuse the pic quality

next day bright and early 8am we headed down to a mark before light house parked up on the side of the road not thinking about the cows ,fished on one of the rocked edges

then set up the light gear with the spinner for some fresh mackerel for bait first cast bait arrived

the big rod then went out for some bottom fishing with fresh caught mackerel flapper on a 6/0 pennel rig
IMAG0011.jpg

rod wasnt out no more than 5 minutes when the ratchet went screaming yes sommit big had took its dinner strikes into it and reels like the clappers good weight it was pumping away to try get it in as quick as i could it wasnt having it it headed for the bottom into side and snagged up that was it gone with my rig too gutted i was as i think it was a good conger ,but we plodded on stu had a few wrasse out more pollock all around the same size 1lb and a half and also he went walkabouts and had a few more fish round close to the lighthouse didnt have hes camera with him so no pics as fish was returned

in the meantime i was getting more aless the same size pollock there was plenty fish feeding just not decent sizes as round the point the sea was pretty big but the side we was at was more aless calm and shelterd

then double shots of doggies and dab amazing how them dabs get hooks down that big lol

stu took some wrasse on the small rod ledered close in on ragworm
IMAG0015.jpg

while i was floating 20 yards out hitting and missing more pollock still all the same size but good sport watching the float dart under thats what its all about been out and enjoying the fishing and also been out the house :D

one bloke turned up on the next rock edge next to us we got talking and soon found out who he was local lad who fishes roker pier a lot in the winter gordon alias (curly) corra,s lookalike ,he also was into fish while we was there ,we decided to pack up and climb back up the steep climb to be confronted by a field full of cows and me not been ok about cows i walked around the lot of them to find one at me car doing criminal damage to me wing mirror while another was trying to eat the other one :o

so never leave ya motor where i left mine use the top car park they wont eat ya car up there

back to the tent all cleaned up then food ,we decided to fish the area where we was camping off a groyne for a a short while more a beach mark than out else
IMAG0023-1.jpg

we had pollock 1lb size on lug baits and mackerel tipped using 2 hook flappers ,rain then kicked in again so the tent it was good excuses for a slurp :D :D :D

we decided to head off home the next morning after breakfast for another canny drive back ,after a bit discussion driving away from the mull we wanted some more fishing so whithorn was the destination arrived at the back of the caravan park we grabs our gear and headed onto the rock mark

a 4 hour session firstly using light gear and fresh crab down the side for the odd wrasse sea was quite choppy swells lashing against the rocks but still this didnt stop them feeding we had 6 wrasse between us all around the same size

Nice one Coddy, your not wrong about the cows lol, they leave some canny slavers on your car mate. The first time we went we were told to fold our wing mirrors in, just in case they snapped them off.
