well i've got one, just got meself an Avor 215 from down south, it was under offer but fortunatley for me the sale fell through....HOWEVER!!!!!!!!! anyone got a spare 85hp nanni engine they want to sell, this is the boat i mentioned in a previous thread with the knackered engine, so i will be trailing the net and all marine suppliers for a new engine, a quick swop over and bobs your uncle....soon be out there following bert and norman on the wrecks
 
great news Bob, Ian S has a spare motor .......


remember, propel it with a small electric motor,and fit a large 85hp Nanni cabin heater...... you know it makes sense :)

I saw that boat on essexbotayards website, is it not worth getting the original engine rebuilt?
 
took your advice norman and stuck with the diesel and shaft drive, popped down to the marina today but was'nt many people about , was in the boat yard for a while, it felt good to be back....the good old smell of anti foul paint

Ron, thanks for that i will pop up on monday and get a quote off robbie storrar for an engine, me fingers are sore now i've sent stacks of emails to other suppliers to get quotes
 
Aye Bob as keith sys (and I`m sure you`ve already considered it) but might be better to rebuild the original .......

There again , it`d be good to break all contact with a defective unit and fit new .......... so I would go new motor (or see ian S LOL he`s got a few litres of capacity spare )
 
not sure yet Norman, the person that new about the damage was with another customer, he is going let me know tommorrow, i aint seen the boat but am sure it will be fine, i have thought about having the motor rebuilt and have left messages for a few companies to give me a ring on monday, i reckon the price for a new bobtail motor to be in the region £ 6k, and maybe a rebuild in the region of £2-£3k at the worst as long as the block is okay...i would be urging on the new engine, i got the boat for a good price and lets face it with a new motor its as good as a new boat...i could still have the old engine proffesionally repaired with a warrannty and quite easily sell it, i think i will get a company to inspect the old engine first and go on thier advise...if it can be propelly repaired then i've got a bargain....however if it was that easy i am sure essex boat yards would have had it fixed and sold it for top whack......my next choice is wether to buy a four wheeled trailer and collect it or have them deliver it

Is the engine worth blueprinting and re-fitting?? I guess the cost/time of that makes a brand new lump look attractive though, especially when you're in the '"zone"

if you want something to take you're mind of it, I've got bound copies of the UKHO, Lloyds and Board of trade/DTI wreck lists, if you want to borrow them

20 odd thousand wrecks, surely one has got some fish to be found!

Bob,

I'm sure John bought a trailer and towed his home, you could ask him if he'd be willing to loan / rent the trailer, just a thought.
 
That would be great thanks kieth, if he would rent it out, or even better if he wanted to sell it if he has no further use for it
