The Pier 1st August

I took Lenny out for some mackerel fishing on Shields pier this morning 6am-1pm, I got only 3 mackerel and Lenny blanked. Everyone else that came along blanked aswell just no mackerel about, 1 of the guys bait fishing brought up 2 mackerel on his crab baits lol.

I did think that I had a full house on at one point that turned out to be a gannet I think or some sea bird anyway, nearly $h*t myself when I noticed a screaming bird coming in on my line.

It had a hook through it's wing and I dunno what I woulda done had the 2 lads fishing on end of pier not came over and helped (Thanks Lads), never experienced catching a bird before and hopefully never again.

LOL mate yeah it's not a good feeling or thing to have attached to your line/rig, fingers crossed that's my bird catching days over.

your welcome mate.. I only ended up with 3 flatties! But as u know i lost alot of gear. As it turned out the mags in my reel fell out!!!!! great!!!!

wish i was young enough to pull in a bird,well done on freeing it some toss s would have killed it.at least ya avoided the blank.

Aww man sounds like a nightmare that mate, at least ya got some fish out hope ya get ya reel sorted, again thanks for help it saved me a real headache.

@skiny yeah mate the lad along from me said he woulda just killed it, tbh that aint a great idea IMHO and I do wonder why we get people like that, respect the sea and the creatures that thrive in it and all that.
