Had a few hours down there today , fished from 1ish till 4.30 with plenty of people down and not a lot getting caught I fished two rods , both with 2 hook flappers .
I cast to the middle with rag and macky on the big rod and used me salt flattie down the side with a 2onz weight and Macky chunk . This proved to be the busy rod , knocking from the off with a blenny which the cormerent ate after a tussle .
Ended up with 14 fish , 5 species ( blenny, coalie, granny, flounder and whiting ) keeping only the whiting about a pound plus , loads of small coalies keeping me busy , nice in the sun , cowld in the snow :-)
Blyth pier next I think to use me worms up

Well done mate, sounds similar to my session down there yesterday. Plenty to keep the rod tips nodding, it was Bluey that did the business for me

Well done mate. I was the guy fishing to the left of you, nice to meet you. I am checking out some of my lighter gear for a second down the side rod as we speak. Lesson learned for me, the action is not all in the middle of the shipping channel !

Nice to meet ya mate , you've gotta be prepared , a carp rod will do ya mate they cast 2onz nee bother and ya get a bit sport , if ya like ya retro gear ya should get a glass one for next to nowt in Rosie's second hand shop , good look mate

My best fish on Thursday was a 40cm Coalie that came on a size 4 hook and a little chunk of bluey dropped straight over the side.

Second the braid for dangling. Underarm flick with a quivertip rod and half oz ball weight for me, you get allsorts. I use the lightest rod I've ever bought that I used to use for dace and gudgeon on the rivers. Kamasan 10ft wand. The bite detection has to be seen to be believed. Admittedly id struggle to tame anything over 3lb but I've never had to cross that bridge yet. A d

I should get me quiver tips out , they've been gathering dust in the garage for a while , ya might need a drop ne if ya hit out decent , I made mine Crome a aluminium bike rim and a mesh laundry bag cable tied on , it's light and works a treat , note to ones self ( get course gear out and utilise it )
Cheers mate
