can anyone tell me if the promnade just north of roker is worth fishing over high water as it dont look to bad just thought id ask before i tried it

That area is known as Cat and Dog steps, ive only fished it on a low water but when i was on the beach there was plenty of fishy looking holes that could hold fish over high water. I would say it was medium ground as the holes you would fish into are only of depth of 1-3 foot deep, that said i fish into very rough ground so my idea of clean may differ from others. Usually thows a fish or 2 out.

i wouldnt mind a few chucks off there mysel mate. can ya park the car anywhere near the mark. thinking of heading over roker next weekend for a session or 2. see if i can bag my first cod over 1.5lb. wud be nice like iv been geting naff all lately.

dont i just know the feeling lol i aint sure about parking the car on the prom but surely you could leave it up on the road side at the top i aint had a fish over 1.5 yet my self its either there or whittburn beech i think or even whitley bay on monday but thats a bit too far for me like lol

You can park just of the main coast road, you want to be anywhere after the park on the left as you come from the south. Walk towards the sea and down the steps to the prom.

i tried there today just down from Cat and Dogs (whitburn side)

Didnt get a sniff.. there was around 20 of us on the beach fishing in total and no one got anything.

It was very shallow, i could wade out 30 yards at low water.

I think the middle of the beach, or the rocky part towards the pier is the better place, especially for Bass.
