Hello guys, me and marshall decided to fish broken scar on Sunday after not being able to fish there the previous week because of too much water, we arrived to find the level had dropped so decided to give it a go, anyway after half an hour fishing I noticed someone standing on the bank watching us so I had a walk over to find out it was Paul firmin (Gozza) must have been on the bank at least half hour with Paul telling me what I was doing wrong and to try this and that well this guy knows his stuff so obviously I was going to listen to him, so after a change of flys headed back in to the river and instantly started catching (thanks to Paul) by the time we finished I had 5 grayling and marshall had 5 grayling and a good oos browny

Thanks
Michael

Yes nice fish mate think we heading down Sunday been invited to fish darlo anglers waters they having some sort of open day I'm led to believe

That would have been a cracking flight on a fly rod mate, get yourself down Sunday if you fancy a look will probably fish broken scar after the club waters

Had a look on line and all i could find was someone posting about Darlo anglers lake being open sunday cant find any info about fishing the river. Is this invitation only welly? Have you any info ?

Cheers
Steve

No problem daz, Steve as far as I'm aware it's open to anyone but I will check and make sure then get back to you

Well I popped down to broken scar for a few hours today, was definitely worth it. The river looked ideal and I finished up with over 20 grayling, alot of which were over a pound. Lost a couple of crackers too.
You should have some good sport tomorrow.

They were still a bit all over the place really. The first pool just below the barrels produced a few fingerlings at the head of the pool then nothing until the tail of the pool where a few decent fish made an appearance. The corner pool where the tree has recently fallen used to have loads of big fish by the near bank but it appears they have moved to the fae side. Some really big ones there, fought one for ages before the fly pinged back toward me. The fast water at the very bottom of the stretch produced a few but it was hard work there.
I reckon a few more decent frosts and they should be shoaling up nicely.
How did you get on today?
