Aye, its paying the price for the overfishing years ago. Used to actually floatfish for flounders with light gear at Sand point, some of the best sport you could ever have, they put up a really good scrap

sounds like canny sport Davy,I\'ve read about float fishing for flatties in the mags but never got round to giving it a go

They\'re probably still there but not in the numbers they were then. Back end of August and September were the best months for me, had bags of up to 20 fish over the top of the tide. Crab was good, but if you fished bunches of small whiteworm, it made all the difference.

When the old shipyard was there, there were some monster flats caught off the end of the slipway, practically under your rod tip.
