The wherry then up to sluice for low water

As mentioned me and Stefan had a run down the wherry yesterday morning to fish over high water. Not much to write about a few pulls but that's about it. Got a bit shallow so headed up to seaton sluice to fish the ebb.

Got down just before darkness and straight away I was getting bites nearly taking the rod out my hand. Hooking the fish and my line was snapping every time I bent into a fish. Lost 2 and almost gave up.
Decided to stick it out and fish on about an hour later I walked back to my rod after baiting another trace and found my line lying on the ground under the rod , great another good fish this time it's mine , or so I thought. Wound up and found nothing on the end. !!!! Gutter !!!
Next chuck goes out and 1 minute later a good pull down and straight into a very heavy fish scrapping all the way in. Was having to pump and wind it in until 10 yds from my feet I snag up right on the low water ledge. Didn't have my waders on so I couldn't go and get it, gave it some line to come free but was still stuck. So went for the pull option and lost the fish and my rotten bottom went. Didn't get to see the fish with the colour of the water but it felt very heavy.
No more pulls after that and tide was storming in so called it a night. Only a few worm left anyway.
Lug blacks mussel and squid was the baits

Without wanting to bring up a previous thread regarding tying a fish off, would it have been possible in you sitution? Well done for searchng for the fish though, determination throughout.

Never thought of tying it off. The tide had already turned so it would of been sitting there till next low water.
