The Wirral?

Going down to the inlaws for a few days in Neston. I\'ve checked out the WSF website but I\'d still like a bit more info if possible. As the wife and kids will be with me I was thinking of trying Caldy or Thurstaston. Are these fishing at the minute, if so what baits/tactics are best, and if not where else is worth a shot? (Bearing in mind our lass refuses to lose sight of the car!)
Cheers lads, Rob.

Try having a look at the forums on Castandcatch.com The guys on there fish all around that area and the Mersey.

Fresh crab will prob land you a few flounders at Caldy, with the chance of a plaice or odd bass......Thurstaston is much the same, but i prefer Caldy.Take note that tide flies in at both venues (typical estuary)so you can safely fish from 2 1/2 hours before high.
Other than there, prob the most popular mark is low water at Perch Rock (spring lows are best)...it`s hit n miss at this time of year, with crab activity pretty high  dabs/pin whiting will be caught, but as ever the odd thornie/smut show, along with conger.....they are few and far between :( on the plus side,it`s a very nice clean beach to fish and there`s other things going on for the family to enjoy while you`re fishing.
Most of the Wirral/Mersey marks are pretty quiet at this time of year,so don`t expect too much ;)

Thanks for the info lads. I thought the fishing might be poor in the Dee with all this rain washing down the estuary. Might try Perch Rock, Hoyle Bank, Moreton Beach or Harrison Drive area\'s or even Mostyn, Tallacre or Prestatyn if I can persuade our lass!!
