It's war, he killed an enemy, they've got i.e.ds hidden all over the place,killing troops and civilians , cowards. the only crime commited here is that this lad has been charged, over 400 uk troops have been killed, the lad had completed numerous tours of duty and would have seen some horrific sites , and lost a lot of friends he's more of a hero than a criminal. This should never have been brought to trial and the info should not have been in the public domain , war is messy. The soldiers are heroes, every 1 of them

Listen Afghanistan was invaded by the Soviet Union at the end of the 70's and up to one and a half million Afghanis were killed in that conflict, most of them civilians. Then in 2001, we along with the US invaded their country again! Is it any wonder that they react to this provocation the way they do? Since we invaded it is estimated that some 75,000 civilians have been killed by the direct action of the US and Britain.

The US and Britain have a long history of invading countries that they have no business being in. All human life is sacred and slaughtering civilians in countries we have no right to be in is a scandal. Is it any wonder that people from these countries label us as the global terrorists?

This has nothing to do with the poor foot soldiers who have to fight on the front line, the vast majority are working class people from poor backgrounds who join the army for a career and a living wage. We should not be sending them to countries that are nothing to do with us. By doing so, we(the west) breed resentment and hatred against us and bring the atrocities we have seen around the world upon ourselves. If you are a small defenseless nation you cannot fight a super power so you resort to what you glibly deem terrorism. These country's people will tell you we are the terrorists.

to be fair mate, the majority of that comment belongs in its owns separate argument.

The bloke involved in this will no doubt care little for the politics, or what the Soviets may or may not have done, or even what we or the US has done throughout history.

He was out there to do a job, for one reason or another has fuc@@@d up and will no doubt have to live with the consequences now.

Yes, I could understand the locals thinking our Marine was a terrorist, but as far as i'm aware you don't live in afghanistan? As a British citizien you stated that a current serving british marine was a cold blooded murderer and no better than a terrorist. Things happen during wars that shouldn't happen, there are no winners in war, only survivors. I presume you saw where the taliban had hung parts of marines bodies on trees? How would you feel if you saw your mate strung up in bits, and then you had the chance to kill one of the possible offenders? what would you do? hand him in? rubbish. In my eyes it's one less insurgent to worry about, and a damn shame that this marine has been charged, Regardless of whether our lads should be there are not, they are there, and are faced daily with horrific scenarios, people have been too quick to brand this marine a murderer or terrorist

fair enough,
we are both entitled to our own opinions, no doubt this topic will divide peoples opinions across the country / world.

I just don't class the lad as a murder, even though the law might, and what I class as a terrorist you class as a freedom fighter.

As you say i have also had my say and will also now politely bow out, before a full blown slagging match ensues, as at least two protagonists on here can not manage a half decent debate without resorting to churlish behavior.

Its a shame he got caught, if you document and store anything illegal, as
sure as eggs is eggs, its gonna bite you on the arse.
He will serve 2 year in a mp then onto a public prison.
Reading the transcripts, the man had a sucking wound to the chest, doubtfull
if he would of lived anyway, should of been left to rot.
 
personally i would give the guy a medal, as he said himself its nowt he wouldnt have done to him, except that he would have cut his head off with a rusty bread knife and paraded it on a stick through his village! I think he got off lightly...he could have poured a bottle of TCP into his wound and then dragged him 10 mile to the nearest medi tent only for them to humanely put him down.
 
that's modern technology for yer ehh? if the guy was popped, say in a conflict 20 year ago nowt would have ever happened.
