whilst the photographs are very graphic in showing human disregard for the environment, of the 4 photos i saw,[ and maybe I'm missing something here] what makes every one think this is the disgraceful work of anglers,i didn't see anything on the photographs that would lead me to the certain conclusion that anglers where responsible, other people apart from anglers camp near the shore line, just a thought.

Your right Trevor there is no need to waste life I find pleasure in returning fish like that they look lovely swimming back and make me privelaged just to be part of it.

best thing about summer fishing is all fish are returned no need to keep them when im away fishing like you says its nice to see fish make it back whatever species they are gives me a buzz when less stress to the fish after a quick picture and check they have swam off thumbs up

It's not just anglers though it's all walks. How many people complain about litter but throw their cigarette butts out of the car window, a real pet hate of mine
It's a real shame about Tarbet though cos the farmer is good, camped at West Tarbet myself and was thinking of taking my little one either this year or next year for some rough camping, he wants a camp fire and at least you can be responsible and do it carefully on the beach.
No suprise to see what Snatcher collected as you'll always find it over that way on the regular marks. Don't have to go far though, go to the walkway at South Shields and see how much line and crap you can pick up right in front of peoples houses despite a row of bins. would people like that in front of their houses?

Last time I was along South Shields pier,summer last year,I picked up a load on anglers rubbish. I was not even fishing,just out for a stroll with the wife. Seem to recall I got a few usable swivels and hooks for my troubles. I am afraid that if us concientious do not pick up the rubbish left by the ar--holes our marks will just degenerate into rubbish tips !!!

I agree with Mark in the fact that, people that leave no rubbish or pick rubbish up after the scum that leave it are actually in the minority now. With these Marine Conservation Zones (MCZ) being organised, the scum are playing into the anti anglers hands. All they have to do is start showing photographs of the type seen on this thread, (something that we see almost every time we fish) and it gives them a great reason to close whole areas to us in the future. How the hell can we argue against it when so many don't even care about it?
How about an MCZ stretching from Blyth to Seaham? I'm sure that would get a few people's attention in this area. It is so sad that almost every mark we fish we can find proof that someone has fished that mark before us.

no matter what we discuss on this forum about the mess some anglers make and leave, the state of our piers in the summer months and the anger the vast majority of us feel, nothing will change, simply because the perpetrators who do this do not read the threads on this forum or any other forum [ basically they they find it hard to read written English] so they are utterly oblivious of the damage to the flora and fauna they cause, i have tried to talk to these people in the summer months about the mess they make or fish conservation [take home what you would like to eat let the rest go free] one even threw a empty beer can at me told me to walk away while copulating and that i was a nosey daft c/// so I'm of the opinion that whilst i agree with what all you lads have said nothing will happen ,and we all of us, will just have to put up with it
know what you mean mate. hope youll not have to do it this year as there are bins on pier and three on the end and bout half dozen more scatterd along so lets hope these idiots know what the bins are there for and make good use of them and help to keep the pier tidy
I do not post my opinions very often as I just post the facts of the Recreational Sea Anglers fighting for there rights and as you know I am on the Northumberland Sea Fisheries Committee and represent RSA on the Netgain Northern hub MCZ, so Jim you are so right in your thoughts how can I defend our position with that sort of evidence and paulthespark unfortunately something may well happen and you wont have to put up with it as you could end up with a no catch or take zone. This is just one incident amongst many countrywide it is also the reason we have to put more stewards out on the Amble Open after complaints and a newspaper article about the angling related rubbish at Warkworth beach. Northumberland attracts many Green visitors Walkers, Bird watchers, Divers and all of these groups have well funded organizations behind them many sponsored by large companies so they have power and they are all on the Netgain hub and the other MCZ projects in other parts of the country and we are trying to make friends with them as they have always thought of anglers as dirty people who kill fish. Just because other places such as piers and parts of the Tyne are not on the tourist trail it does not mean that the soon to be IFCA could not pass a byelaw to stop fishing on the banks of the Tyne and other public areas after pressure from the above groups or County Council who will have at least 7 members on the new IFCA along with reps from the said green groups. I witnessed a staggering amount of angling rubbish along the Tyne last year whilst fishing a comp, We know that Sh-t always sticks and we will always be judged by the worst of us despite the majority caring, on a positive note it is heartening to see the disgust of many on this forum.

Pigs in sh.t comes to mind. Sad thing is, it's happening everywhere. Anglers on boats, piers rock edges, unwrap frozen crab, and the cling film chucked aside, along with empty crisp packets, chocolate wrappers etc; etc; STICK IT IN YOUR BAGS TILL YOU GET HOME. Wonder if i got through to anyone!
